Non-degree Seeking Students (non-matriculating) Categores of non-degree students:
(1) Students who have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and need the on-line prerequisite courses to apply to our on-line Master's degree program. (2) Students with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) or Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and wish to take an on-line course for continuing their education. (3) Students who are currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in CSD or SLP and would like to take courses to transfer credit to their degree granting institutions. (4) Students who have a Master's degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology and wish to take an on-line course for CEUs or job retention. For Category 1 students: (Students with a BA or BS needing prerequisite courses) Any student interested in taking the on-line prerequisites must contact Dr. Allen (allenro@ecu.edu) on March 1 of each year, for the following fall semester. Only 20 students are allowed to take the prerequisite courses on-line. So, the first 20 students to email Dr. Allen on March 1 AND who meet the GPA and GRE criteria, will be selected for the prerequisites and subsequenlty notified. The undergraduate GPA must be at least 3.0 and the GRE scores must be at least 800 (combined Verbal and Quantitative). These will need to be verified by sending transcripts and the GRE scores directly to Dr. Allen, once the student is notified of a seat in the prerequisites. Once notified of having a seat in the prerequsisites, the student must (1) apply to the ECU graduate school as a non-dregree seeking student (application forms may be found at http://www.ecu.edu/cs-acad/gradschool/applicationinfo.cfm) and (2) fill out the Non-degree Seeking Student Request form which is sent to you by Dr. Allen once selected as one of the 20 students in the prerequisites. Once approved to take courses by the GRADUATE SCHOOL, you must contact Dr. Allen for registration of the courses. Non-degree students can not enroll themselves in classes. For Category 2 Students: (Students with a BA or BS in CSD wanting to continue their education For students who have a BA or BS degree is CSD and who wish to take introductory graduate level coursework, we generally do not have any open seats in the fall semester. In the spring semester, CSDI 6106 Stuttering and Other Fluency Disorders is open to all graduate students. To request this course, students must contact Dr. Allen ( allenro@ecu.edu) 8 weeks prior to the first day of spring classes. Students must be able to show proof of a 3.0 undergraduate GPA and 1000 (combined Verbal and Quantitative) on the GREs. Once approved by Dr. Allen to take this course, the student must (1) apply to the ECU graduate school as a non-degree seeking student (application forms may be found at http://www.ecu.edu/cs-acad/gradschool/applicationinfo.cfm) and (2) fill out the Non-degree Seeking Student Request form which is sent to you by Dr. Allen. Each semester, we have a few seats available in our on-line courses for graduate students. Availability of seats is dependent on the specific course and instructor consent. Each course will have prerequisites which must be met before permission is granted to take a course. Our course descriptions and the prerequisites for each are listed at (http://csdi.ah.ecu.edu/coursedesc.html). To request a course, students must contact Dr. Allen (allenro@ecu.edu) 8 weeks prior to the first day of classes of the semester in which the course is offered. A list of the courses and semester offered can be found at (http://csdi.ah.ecu.edu/prgofstudy.html).
